Whiskey and Apple Cider

Equipment

  • jigger
  • bar spoon
  • highball glass or rocks glass
  • Hawthorne strainer (optional)
  • cocktail shaker (optional)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz whiskey
  • 4 oz apple cider
  • ice
  • cinnamon stick or apple slice (optional garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Start by gathering together all of your ingredients and supplies.
    Note: this one can be made in a cocktail shaker or straight in your glass.
    To use a shaker:
    fill shaker with ice, add ingredients to shaker, shake well, use hawthorne strainer to pour drink into glass.
  • Grab up some ice and fill your glass almost to the top with it.
  • Take your whiskey and your jigger. Use the jigger and measure 2 oz of whiskey, then pour it in the glass.
  • Take your apple cider and your jigger. Use the jigger and measure 4 oz of apple cider, then pour it in the glass.
    Note: due to the light flavor of apple cider, this typical 2:1 ratio can lead to a pretty strong whiskey flavor. If you want to lighten it up a little, either use only 1.5 oz of whiskey or add a little additional apple cider.
  • Take your bar spoon and use it to completely mix your drink together.
  • If you want to add an optional garnish, you can pop a cinnamon stick into your glass as well.
