Black Eyed Susan Drink

Equipment

  • jigger
  • highball glass
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • cocktail shaker
  • bar spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • 2 oz Sour Mix
  • Orange wedge and/or maraschino cherry optional garnish

Instructions
 

  • Grab everything you need in order to make the drink.
  • Fill both your shaker and highball glass almost to the top with ice.
  • Use your jigger and measure out 1 oz of bourbon. Pour the bourbon into your shaker.
  • Use your jigger and measure out 1 oz of peach schnapps. Pour the peach schnapps into your shaker.
  • Use your jigger and measure out 2 oz of Orange juice. Pour the orange juice into your shaker.
  • Use your jigger and measure out 2 oz of sour mix. Pour the sour mix into your shaker.
  • Put the lid on the shaker and shake it well. 15 - 20 seconds should do it, the outside of the shaker will get cold to the touch.
  • Replace the shaker lid with the strainer and pour your drink into the highball glass.
  • If you want to add a garnish:
    1) Pop the maraschino cherry or two on top of the drink.
    2) Slice an orange into slices. Cut a small notch in the pulp of the orange and use that notch to place the wedge on the rim of the glass.

Notes

You can also build this drink straight in the glass. To do this:
  1. Toss all your ingredients straight into the glass instead of in the shaker.
  2. To mix it:  either use a bar spoon into the glass and stir well, or toss the drink from the glass to the shaker and then back into the glass.
