Blueberry Simple Syrup

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Masher optional
  • Measuring Cup
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Pyrex or Jar with lid

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Blueberries fresh or frozen

Instructions
 

  • Measure 1 cup of blueberries and put them in the pot.
  • Measure 1 cup of water and put it in the pot.
  • Measure 1 cup of sugar and put it in the pot.
  • Simmer it on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • Be sure to stir it well while heating. You can also use the masher to help squeeze the juice from the blueberries.
  • Pour the syrup mixture into a strainer to remove all the blueberry pieces.
  • Add the syrup to a jar or pyrex and chill it for 1 - 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Notes

Storage
  • Put the syrup in a jar with a lid or other air tight container.  Store it in the fridge for 2 - 4 weeks.
  • If you need to keep it longer, you can freeze it.  Ice cube trays work well.
Tips
  • Use a masher to press all the juice out of the blueberries.
  • Use a fine mesh strainer to make sure that all the blueberry pieces are removed from the syrup.
  • Be sure to not let the syrup boil hard or it may burn.
