Banana Simple Syrup

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Masher optional
  • Strainer
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Cup
  • Small Pyrex or Mason Jar

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 ripe Banana

Instructions
 

  • Slice up the banana and toss it into the pot.
  • Measure out 1 cup of water and toss it into the pot.
  • Measure out 1 cup of sugar and toss it into the pot.
  • Heat the mixture on the stovetop at medium heat while it simmers for 10 minutes.
  • Stir frequently while heating. You can use a masher while heating to press all the banana juice out well.
  • Take it off the heat and pour through the strainer to remove any large banana pieces.
  • Put the banana syrup in a small pyrex or other jar and stick it in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours to cool.

Notes

Tips
  • Don't boil the mix while heating to prevent burning.
  • Use a masher to get the most banana flavor into the syrup.
  • Leave it to cool for 1 - 2 hours so it gets thick before using it.
Storage
  • Keep it in a jar with a lid or other airtight container for up yo 4 weeks.
  • If it won't be used within 4 weeks, you can freeze it.
