- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 ripe Banana
Slice up the banana and toss it into the pot.
Measure out 1 cup of water and toss it into the pot.
Measure out 1 cup of sugar and toss it into the pot.
Heat the mixture on the stovetop at medium heat while it simmers for 10 minutes.
Stir frequently while heating. You can use a masher while heating to press all the banana juice out well.
Take it off the heat and pour through the strainer to remove any large banana pieces.
Put the banana syrup in a small pyrex or other jar and stick it in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours to cool.
Tips
- Don't boil the mix while heating to prevent burning.
- Use a masher to get the most banana flavor into the syrup.
- Leave it to cool for 1 - 2 hours so it gets thick before using it.
Storage
- Keep it in a jar with a lid or other airtight container for up yo 4 weeks.
- If it won't be used within 4 weeks, you can freeze it.
