- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Coconut
Measure 1 cup of coconut and toss into the saucepan.
Measure 1 cup of sugar and toss into the saucepan.
Measure 1 cup of water and toss into the saucepan.
Heat the mixture on the stovetop at medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Stir regularly while heating and do not let it fully boil.
Remove from the heat and pour mixture through strainer to remove any coconut pieces.
Pour the syrup into a jar and place into the fridge to chill and thicken for 1 - 2 hours.
Tips
- Use a fine mesh strainer so no coconut pieces get into the finished syrup.
- Only simmer the mixture; do not boil it.
- Stir frequently while heating.
Storage
- Place it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
- If keeping it longer that 4 weeks, freeze in an ice cube tray.
