Coconut Simple Syrup

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Pyrex or Mason Jar
  • Measuring Cup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Coconut

Instructions
 

  • Measure 1 cup of coconut and toss into the saucepan.
  • Measure 1 cup of sugar and toss into the saucepan.
  • Measure 1 cup of water and toss into the saucepan.
  • Heat the mixture on the stovetop at medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir regularly while heating and do not let it fully boil.
  • Remove from the heat and pour mixture through strainer to remove any coconut pieces.
  • Pour the syrup into a jar and place into the fridge to chill and thicken for 1 - 2 hours.

Notes

Tips
  • Use a fine mesh strainer so no coconut pieces get into the finished syrup.
  • Only simmer the mixture; do not boil it.
  • Stir frequently while heating.
Storage
  • Place it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
  • If keeping it longer that 4 weeks, freeze in an ice cube tray.
