Lemon Simple Syrup

This easy lemon simple syrup is ready in about 15 minutes a provides a nice sweet and tangy addition to any drink or baked good.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Measuring Cup
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Pyrex or Mason Jar

Ingredients
  

  • .5 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • .5 Cup Lemon Juice

Instructions
 

  • Add .5 cups of water to a saucepan.
  • Add .5 cups of lemon juice to a saucepan.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar to a saucepan.
  • Put the pot on medium heat on the stovetop.
  • For 10 minutes, while stirring frequently, simmer the mixture.
  • Remove the mixture from the heat and pour it into a pyrex or jar.
  • Place the syrup into the refrigerator for 1 - 2 hours so that it can thicken and chill.

Notes

Storage
  • Store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2 - 4 weeks.
  • If you need to keep it for longer than 2 - 4 weeks, you can freeze it.
Tips
  • Stir frequently while heating to ensure the syrup doesn't burn on the bottom of the pot.
  • Try not to let it rapidly boil while heating to prevent burning.
  • Let it cool for 1 - 2 hours in the fridge before using so that it has time to thicken.
