Mint Simple Syrup

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Jar or Pyrex
  • Measuring Cup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Mint Leaves

Instructions
 

  • Add 1 cup of mint leaves into the pot.
  • Add 1 cup of water into the pot.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar into the pot.
  • Put the pot on the stovetop at medium heat to simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Stir it frequently while it heats.
  • Take the pot off the heat and pour the syrup through the strainer to remove the mint leaves.
  • Add syrup to a jar with a lid or a pyrex and place it into the fridge to chill for 1 - 2 hours.

Notes

Tips
  • Use a strainer to remove the mint leaves from the final syrup.
  • Stir consistently through heating to prevent the syrup from scalding on the bottom of the pan.
  • Allow the syrup to cool for 1 - 2 hours before using so that it will thicken up.
Storing
  • Put it into an air tight container and keep it in the fridge for 2 - 4 weeks.
  • If it won't be used before that time, then you can freeze it.  Using ice cube trays works well.
