- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- .5 Cup Orange Juice
- 3 Slices Orange Peel
Cut an orange in half. Cut the pulp away from the peel and slice the peel into a few strips. Add the orange peel to a pot.
Pour .5 cups of orange juice into the pot.
Pour 1 cup of water into the pot.
Pour 1 cup of sugar into the pot.
Put the pot onto the stovetop at medium heat.
Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes while stirring frequently.
Take the mixture off the heat and pour through the strainer to remove any pieces of orange pulp.
Put the syrup into a jar or pyrex and cool it off in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours.
Tips
- Make sure to clean as much pulp off the orange peel as possible.
- Use a fine strainer to remove any small pieces of orange pulp from the final syrup.
- Stir continuously while heating to avoid scalding the syrup.
Storage
- This can be frozen in ice cube trays if you need to keep it for a long time.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 - 4 weeks.
