Orange Simple Syrup

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Knife
  • Strainer
  • Jar or Pyrex
  • Measuring Cup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • .5 Cup Orange Juice
  • 3 Slices Orange Peel

Instructions
 

  • Cut an orange in half. Cut the pulp away from the peel and slice the peel into a few strips. Add the orange peel to a pot.
  • Pour .5 cups of orange juice into the pot.
  • Pour 1 cup of water into the pot.
  • Pour 1 cup of sugar into the pot.
  • Put the pot onto the stovetop at medium heat.
  • Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes while stirring frequently.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and pour through the strainer to remove any pieces of orange pulp.
  • Put the syrup into a jar or pyrex and cool it off in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours.

Notes

Tips
  • Make sure to clean as much pulp off the orange peel as possible.
  • Use a fine strainer to remove any small pieces of orange pulp from the final syrup.
  • Stir continuously while heating to avoid scalding the syrup.
Storage
  • This can be frozen in ice cube trays if you need to keep it for a long time.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 - 4 weeks.
