- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Chopped Pear
Chop up 1 cup of pear and toss it into the pot.
Toss 1 cup of water in the pot.
Toss 1 cup of sugar in the pot.
Simmer the mixture on medium heat on the stovetop for 10 minutes.
Ensure that you stir it often while it heats. You can also use a masher to squeeze all the pear juice out well.
Remove it from the stovetop and pour it through the strainer to remove any pieces of pear.
Get the syrup into a jar or pyrex and cool it off for 1 - 2 hours in the fridge.
Tips
- Use a fine strainer to separate any pear pieces from the final finished syrup.
- Let it cool for 1 - 2 hours before using it so that it has time to thicken.
- Stir it often while it heats to prevent it from burning on the bottom of the pan.
Storing
- It should be kept in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It can stay fresh for 2 - 4 weeks.
- If you need it longer than 2 - 4 weeks, you can freeze it in an ice cube tray.
