Pineapple Simple Syrup

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Masher optional
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Cup
  • Pyrex or Mason Jar

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Chopped Pineapple fresh or frozen

Instructions
 

  • Chop up 1 cup of pineapple and dump it in the saucepan.
  • Pour 1 cup of water and dump it in the saucepan.
  • Pour 1 cup of sugar and dump it in the saucepan.
  • Simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes on the stovetop.
  • Stir it often while it heats. You can also use the masher to really squeeze the juice from the pineapple.
  • Strain the syrup through the strainer in order to remove any pieces of pineapple.
  • Add the syrup into the jar or pyrex and place it in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours to cool off.

Notes

Tips
  • Frozen or fresh pineapple works well.
  • Use a fine strainer to make sure all pineapple pieces are taken out of the finished syrup.
  • Stir it regularly while it heats to prevent it from burning on the bottom of the pot.
Storing
  • It should be kept chilled in the fridge in a jar with a lid (or any air tight container).  It can be kept for 2 - 4 weeks.
  • If you need to keep it for longer, you can freeze it in an ice cube tray.
