- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Chopped Pineapple fresh or frozen
Chop up 1 cup of pineapple and dump it in the saucepan.
Pour 1 cup of water and dump it in the saucepan.
Pour 1 cup of sugar and dump it in the saucepan.
Simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes on the stovetop.
Stir it often while it heats. You can also use the masher to really squeeze the juice from the pineapple.
Strain the syrup through the strainer in order to remove any pieces of pineapple.
Add the syrup into the jar or pyrex and place it in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours to cool off.
Tips
- Frozen or fresh pineapple works well.
- Use a fine strainer to make sure all pineapple pieces are taken out of the finished syrup.
- Stir it regularly while it heats to prevent it from burning on the bottom of the pot.
Storing
- It should be kept chilled in the fridge in a jar with a lid (or any air tight container). It can be kept for 2 - 4 weeks.
- If you need to keep it for longer, you can freeze it in an ice cube tray.
