Use the jigger to measure .5 oz of simple syrup. Then, toss the simple syrup into the shaker.*for tbs and cups measurements instead of ounces, see the notes section below.
Take the muddler and use it to smash the mint leaves in with the simple syrup. The mint should not be completely torn apart, but should be worked enough to release it's juices.
Use the jigger to measure 1 oz of lime juice. Then, toss the lime juice into the shaker.
Put the lid on the shaker and shake it all up until the shaker gets cold on the outside. Typically this take about 15 - 20 seconds.
Take off the shaker lid and cover the shaker with the strainer.
Pour the drink from the shaker into the glass.
Use the jigger to measure 4.5 oz of club soda. Then, toss the club soda into the shaker.Pro tip: as an alternative to measuring the club soda, you can just pour it directly into the glass to top the glass off.
Toss a few mint leaves on top of the drink and enjoy!
