- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Chopped Watermelon
Chop up 1 cup of watermelon and add it to the saucepan.
Add 1 cup of water to the saucepan.
Add 1 cup of sugar to the saucepan.
Simmer it for 10 minutes on the stovetop at medium heat.
You can use the masher to really press all the juice from the watermelon. Make sure to stir it often as it heats.
Take the strainer and strain the syrup so that all the watermelon pulp is removed.
Put the syrup in to a pyrex or jar and stick it in the fridge to cool off for 1 - 2 hours.
Storing
- Keep it closed up in an airtight container for 2 - 4 weeks in the refrigerator.
- If you need to store it for longer, then you can freeze it.
Tips
- Stir it often as it heats to prevent it from sticking and burning on the bottom of the pot.
- Use the masher to press all the juice out of the watermelon as it heats.
- Use a fine strainer to ensure no pieces of watermelon get into the final syrup.
