  • Strainer
  • Knife
  • Masher optional
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Pyrex and Mason Jar
  • Measuring Cup

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Chopped Watermelon

Instructions

  • Chop up 1 cup of watermelon and add it to the saucepan.
  • Add 1 cup of water to the saucepan.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar to the saucepan.
  • Simmer it for 10 minutes on the stovetop at medium heat.
  • You can use the masher to really press all the juice from the watermelon. Make sure to stir it often as it heats.
  • Take the strainer and strain the syrup so that all the watermelon pulp is removed.
  • Put the syrup in to a pyrex or jar and stick it in the fridge to cool off for 1 - 2 hours.

Notes

Storing
  • Keep it closed up in an airtight container for 2 - 4 weeks in the refrigerator.
  • If you need to store it for longer, then you can freeze it.
Tips
  • Stir it often as it heats to prevent it from sticking and burning on the bottom of the pot.
  • Use the masher to press all the juice out of the watermelon as it heats.
  • Use a fine strainer to ensure no pieces of watermelon get into the final syrup.
