Equipment

  • highball glass
  • bar spoon
  • shaker optional
  • jigger

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Rum
  • 4 oz Sprite or Sprite Zero
  • 1 Lemon Wedge optional garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Fill highball glass with ice to the top.
  • Use jigger to measure up 2 oz of rum.
  • Add in 2 oz of rum to the glass with the ice.
  • Use jigger to measure up 4 oz of Sprite.
  • Add in 4 oz of Sprite to the glass with the ice and rum.
Note: if you want to skip measuring, just pour the Sprite directly into the glass to top it off.
  • Stir gently with bar spoon. Or gently pour from glass to shaker, back to glass.
  • If using lemon garnish: Cut lemon into slices. Take one wedge and cut a small notch in the pulp. Use the notch to secure the wedge on the rim of the glass.
  • Enjoy!

Tips & Variations
  • Keep the ratios right - the 2:1 Sprite to rum ratio is the best for optimal flavor. But you can certainly scale this recipe up by doubling or tripling each ingredient to make a big batch.
  • Make just in time - making this in advance doesn't work well because the Sprite will go flat. So, this is better to not make in advance.
  • Don't shake - with the amount of soda in this drink, you don't want to shake it to mix it. Instead use a bar spoon and stir it.
  • Flavor options - try out a spiced rum, coconut rum or a different sprite.  You can also use a lime garnish instead of a lemon.
