What is a Whiskey and Root Beer?
Whiskey and Root Beer joins a long line of delicious cocktails that blend your favorite liquor with a soft drink. The signature spices in Root Beer blend effortlessly with the smoky taste found in Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey.
If you are already a fan of the Whiskey and Coke, this is just different enough that you will enjoy the variety. Who knows, you may even find a new favorite drink.
Other Soft Drink Mixers
Root Beer is not the only soft drink that goes well in a mixed drink. You can also use Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Ginger Ale for a quick and simple highball cocktail.
A few of our tried and true favorite soft drink based recipes include Vodka Ginger Ale, Rum and Coke, Vodka and Sprite, Rum and Sprite, Tequila and Sprite, and the aforementioned, Jack and Coke.

How to make this drink:
Whiskey and Root Beer is super simple to make because it only involves two ingredients; Jack Daniels (or your favorite bourbon or whiskey) and your favorite Root Beer (we prefer A&W).
Fill your highball glass off with ice.
Add in 2 oz of a Jack Daniels or your favorite bourbon or whiskey.
Fill the rest of the glass with 4 oz of Root Beer.
Stir with a bar spoon or tumble in a mixer.
Add a lime wedge to the rime of your glass and enjoy!
Whiskey And Root Beer aka Lynchburg Beer
- highball glass
- bar spoon
- (Optional) Mixing tumbler
- 2 oz Jack Daniels or your favorite bourbon or whiskey
- 4 oz Root Beer
- 1 lime wedge garnish
- Fill highball glass with ice
- Add in 2 oz of Jack Daniels
- Top off with Root Beer (approximately 4 oz)
- Stir gently with bar spoon
- Garnish with lime wedge
