Madras Cocktail

The Madras cocktail is the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. It features only vodka and two fruit juices so it’s very easy to make.

What is a Madras Cocktail?

This drink is a vodka based cocktail. It is heavy on the fruit juices and only has the one liquor. It was likely first created sometime around the mid 1940’s, and was likely inspired by the cape codder (vodka cranberry).

One thing I love about the Madras cocktail is, not only is it is it tasty but, it’s also super fun and colorful. It is a bright red / pink color. This drink is extremely refreshing with a high volume of cranberry juice. There is a brilliant tartness to the drink, but with a punch of sweet accented by the added splash of orange juice.

This cocktail has only four ingredients, so it is SUPER easy to make. It’s great to throw together for any get together as it is fast to make so you don’t have to spend a lot of time preparing and can spend more time socializing. You can even make it easily by the pitcher.

It is great for summertime and anytime sipping with it’s refreshing flavor. It is also great for brunches. It’s beautiful red color will give your celebrations that perfect pop of color.

Ingredients & Instructions

To make this cocktails, you don’t need much. You’ll need the following ingredients and supplies:

Vodka

Cranberry Juice

Orange Juice

Lime

Ice

Highball Glass – we use these highball glasses

Jigger to measure liquids

Spoon to Stir – we got our spoon and jigger in this bartending set

Once you have your ingredients and supplies together, you can get your drink mixed up. This should only take a minute or so.

Step one:

Take out the highball glass and fill with ice.

Step Two

Add 2 oz of vodka.

Step Three

Add 3 ½ oz of cranberry juice.

Step Four

Add 1 oz of orange juice to top.

Step Five

Add a squeeze of lime to top it off and place the lime wedge as a garnish on the rim of your glass.
