What is a Peanut Butter Whiskey and Coke?

A peanut butter whiskey in Coke is a super easy to make two ingredient highball. This drink is fizzy, sweet and a little spicy from the Coke with a smooth and strong peanut butter flavor on the back end.

Peanut butter whiskey is a type of whiskey liqueur. It is a liqueur due to the fact that is only 70 proof or 35% alcohol by volume.

It is made by taking whiskey as the base spirit and infusing it with peanuts and sweetener. The resulting drink is smooth, sweet and have a nutty and salty flavor just like peanut butter.

It’s likely that you know what Coke is. It is a highly carbonated or fizzy soda. It has a complex and unique flavor profile with undertones of vanilla, cinnamon and a little citrus.

    When to Make This Drink:

This drink, with its sweet and fizzy flavor, is well suited for serving at many times including:

    • informal get togethers
    • drinks with dinner
    • holiday parties
    • afternoon sipping

    Variations:

If you’re looking for a few ways to change this drink up, try a few of these out:

    • Switch up the Coke. Instead of using regular Coke, use a vanilla Coke, diet Coke or Coke zero. You could also use caffeine free Coke or another flavored Coke such as Cherry Coke.
    • Change brands of whiskey. We used Skytterbrain. However, there are a large variety of different peanut butter whiskeys. In fact, skrewball is one of the most popular.
    • Make your own peanut butter whiskey. This can be a little labor intensive, it involves roasting peanuts, smashing them into a paste, removing oil and then letting the paste infuse in your whiskey for upwards of a week. However, the result is super yummy.

Some other coke based cocktails are: Long Island Iced Tea, Whiskey and Coke, Crown and Coke.

This cocktail can be mixed together and two minutes or less. It’s a super easy to ingredient highball that only needs the ingredients tossed into a glass and stirred up.

    Step four

Using a jigger measure of 4 oz of Coke. Then, pour it into the highball glass with the whiskey.

Note: If you prefer not to measure the Coke out, that is fine. Simply pour the Coke directly into the glass until it is almost completely topped off. This usually ends up being a little more than 4 oz which is totally fine.

    Step Five

Make sure that your drink is mixed together well. The best way to do this since you’re using soda, is with a bar spoon.
