What is a Rum and Apple Juice?

A Rum and apple juice is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that has a little kick of spice to it making it a perfect and delicious fall cocktail to enjoy at the holidays or on a chilly fall night.

There are multiple types of rum including dark rum, white rum, coconut rum and spiced rum. And, while you can certainly use any rum to mix in this cocktail, spiced Rum goes particularly well with the Apple flavor of the juice. Our favorite spiced rum to use is Captain morgan.

Rum in general have a fruity flavor that flavor can vary based on the type of problem. Spiced Rum has added spices such as cinnamon and pepper.

Apple juice of course tastes like sweet apples. So, when combined with rum especially a spiced rum with the extra cinnamon flavor you get a resulting cocktail full of sweet apple cinnamon notes.

Similar tasting Apple juice cocktails you can make are whiskey and apple juice or tequila and Apple juice.

    How to make this drink:

This cocktail can be thrown together in a few easy minutes. You only need a couple of ingredients and you’re good to go.

    Equipment:

    • highball glass or Rocks/Scotch/Bourbon glass
    • jigger
    • bar spoon
    • (optional) cocktail shaker
    • (optional) Hawthorne strainer

    Ingredients:

    • 2 oz Rum – we like to use spiced rum
    • 4 oz Apple Juice
    • Cinnamon Stick and/or Lime Wedge
    • Ice
glass of rum and apple juice with a cinnamon stick

    Instructions:

    Step one

To get started, you want to make sure that you have your ingredients and your supplies ready.

You’ll also want to make sure that you have filled your highball glass full of ice.

    Step two

The garnish for this drink is fairly easy. If you’re using cinnamon sticks you can simply stick them in the side of the glass.

A lime wedge will also work as a garnish, though it’s not quite as flavorful as the cinnamon stick. To make a lime wedge, simply cut your lime into wedges. And place one on the rim of your glass.

    Step three

There are two ways to mix this drink. You can mix it directly in your glass or you can mix it in a cocktail shaker.

We arw going to detail mixing the drink in your glass below. However, if you want to use a cocktail shaker you can follow the similar instructions but instead of pouring your liquor and juice into your highball glass directly you’ll pour it into a cocktail shaker and shake it.

    Step four

Use your jigger to measure 2 oz of rum. Then, take that rum and pour it over the ice in your highball glass.

    Step Five

Use your jigger next to measure 4 oz of Apple juice. Then take that apple juice and pour it over the ice in your highball glass.

If you would like your cocktail to have a stronger Apple flavor, you can certainly use more than 4 oz of Apple juice.

    Step Six

To finish your drink off, take your bar spoon and stick it into your glass. Then, use your spoon to carefully and gently mix your ingredients together completely.

Kickback, take a sip and enjoy!
