Tequila and Tonic: Tonic Not Just For Gin Anymore

    Jump to Recipe

We’ve all heard of (and absolutely LOVE) the Gin and Tonic. But have you ever tried a Tequila and Tonic? This drink recipe has a south of the border twist that every cocktail lover is going to enjoy!

What is a Tequila and Tonic?

Adding tonic to a cocktail recipe is a fantastic way to give your drink a refreshing bit. It is also very good when combined with fresh fruit and fruit juice. The tequila blends perfectly with the hint of lime to produce a drink that could rival even the best flavored hard seltzer.

A tequila and tonic is simply a carbonated cocktail consisting of your favorite white tequila, tonic water, and fresh cut lime. Throw them all in a highball glass and you have yourself a perfect summer porch sipper.

    Other Great Tonic Drinks

As we mentioned, tonic is capable of giving your drinks a bit more oomph. Some of our favorite tonic drinks are the Vodka Tonic, Whiskey Tonic, brandy and tonic, the classic Gin and Tonic, and the unique Gin and Tonic Pops.

These drinks are in no way a comprehensive list. Have some fun and try out other combinations and see what you come up with.

Now, let’s go to the Tequila and Tonic recipe!

    How to make this drink:

Not only does this cocktail taste great but it’s incredibly simple to make.

    Step One

Fill a highball glass with ice.

    Step Two

Pour about a shot worth of your favorite tequila (around 1 ½ – 2 oz)

    Step Three

Top the glass off with tonic water (this is usually about 4 oz).

    Step Four

Stir gently with a bar spoon or tumble into a mixer and back into the glass.

    Step Five

Use a lime wedge as a garnish. For a little extra flavor, squeeze a second wedge into the drink before mixing.
