What is a tequila and cranberry juice?
A tequila and cranberry juice is sort of like a cranberry margarita minus the sweet and salt. It is simply a cocktail that is a mix of cranberry juice and tequila.
Tequila comes in a few different variations. There is silver Tequila and there is gold tequila. We prefer to use silver Tequila for the strength.
Tequila in general has a sharp yet sweet flavor. It does not tend to overwhelm any drink that is added to.
Cranberry juice is an extremely tart, sour and bitter tasting juice. However, there are several variations of cranberry juice as well. Feel free to use whichever variation tastes the best to you.
Cranberry cocktail tends to have additional fruit juices added in to lend to having a sweeter flavor. And some cranberry juices have additional sugar added in which can sweeten the juice and cut some of the bitterness.
Cranberry juice mixes well with other liquors also. Similar tasting cranberry cocktails include rum and cranberry and gin and cranberry or whiskey and cranberry.
How many calories does cranberry and tequila have?
You can expect to have approximately 260 to 350 calories in a cranberry and tequila.
The amount of calories in a cranberry and tequila will depend on the type of tequila as well as the type of cranberry juice that you are using.
Tequila typically has around 90 to 110 calories per ounce. And cranberry juice typically has between 100 and 150 calories per cup.
How to make this drink:
This is super simple cocktail take just a few easy steps. Essentially, all you need to do is mix your two ingredients together.
- 2 oz Tequila
- 4 oz Cranberry juice
- Lime wedge
- Salt rim (optional)
The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure that you have your supplies and ingredients ready to get started.
You can prepare your garnish first. Do this by cutting your lime into slices or wedges.
Using one wedge make a small cut between the pulp and the peel of the line. Do you use this small cut to secure your lime wedge on the rim of your highball glass.
optional: tequila and lime flavors tend to also go well with salt. An optional garnish step you can take is to either coat your lime wedge in a little salt or rim the edge of your glass in salt.
You can make this cocktail in two ways. One, you can make it straight in your highball glass. Two, you can make it with the help of a cocktail shaker.
To make it in a cocktail shaker:
First, ensure that your cocktail shaker is full of ice. Then, using your jigger, measure 2 oz of tequila and pour it into your cocktail shaker.
Next, using your jigger again, measure 4 oz of cranberry juice and also pour that into your cocktail shaker.
Place the top on your cocktail shaker and shake well. The outside of the Shaker should get cold to the touch.
Remove the Shaker top and replace it with a Hawthorne strainer. Then pour your liquid into your highball glass.
To make it straight in your glass:
Grab your jigger and measure 2 oz of gin with it. Then dump your gin over the ice into your highball glass.
Take your jigger again and measure 4 oz of cranberry juice with it. Then dump your cranberry juice over the ice and Gin into your highball glass.
Finally, grab your bar spoon and use it to thoroughly stir together your liquid.
Your drink is ready to enjoy!
Tequila and Cranberry
- highball glass
- Hawthorne strainer
- cocktail shaker
- (Optional) bar spoon
- 2 oz Tequila
- 4 oz Cranberry juice
- Lime Wedge
- Cut a wedge of lime and place it on your glass rim.
- Fill your glass with ice.
- Fill your cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add 2 oz of tequila into your cocktail shaker
- Add 4 oz of cranberry juice into your cocktail shaker
- Place the top on shaker and shake well.
- Remove shaker lid and place Hawthorne strainer over top.
- Pour liquid from shaker into the highball glass
- You can top glass off with another splash of cranberry juice if desired.
- (Optional) If you do not want to use a cocktail shaker, you can add your ingredients directly into your highball glass and use a bar spoon to stir them together.
