What is a gin and cranberry cocktail?

The gin and cranberry cocktail is simply a mix of cranberry juice and Gin. It is an extremely easy cocktail to throw together and tastes delicious.

Gin is a liquor that is made from juniper berries. The juniper berries contribute to its strong pine-like taste. In fact, Gin tastes kind of like biting into nature. The pine-like taste is mixed with a flavor of herbs a little citrus and a bitterness on the back end.

Cranberries and therefore cranberry juice are full of a very tart, sour and almost bitter taste. However, it’s not unpleasant. It’s quite a refreshing sharp flavor.

If you aren’t keen on the intense tartness of pure cranberry juice you make it a cranberry cocktail instead. In fact, some cranberry ” juices” have additional sugar added in to sweeten their flavor as well.

Any of these types of cranberry juices or cocktails work fine for this drink. It just depends on your flavor preferences.

Gin and cranberry juice when mixed together give a slightly tart, bitter and refreshing flavor.

If you’re looking for other similar tasting cranberry cocktails you may also try a tequila and cranberry or a rum and cranberry.

    How to make this drink:

This cocktail is easy to make. It’s simply a matter of combining the ingredients and stirring them together.

    Equipment:

    • cocktail shaker

    • 4 oz Cranberry juice
    • Lime wedge

    Instructions:

    Step one

Preparing to make this drink is very simple. You will first want to fill your highball glass with ice.

    Step two

Next, you will want to prepare your garnish. Grab your lime and cut it into wedges or slices.

Take just one slice and cut between the peel and the pulp. Make just a small cut. Place the lime wedge on the rim of your glass putting the rim in the cut area so it holds.

    Step three

There are two ways you can mix your actual drink together. One is straight in the glass and the other is in a cocktail shaker.

if you’re using a cocktail shaker, you want to ensure that you have also filled your cocktail shaker with ice.

    Step four

To mix your drink in your cocktail shaker:

Use your jigger and measure first 2 oz of Gin. Then use your jigger and measure 4 oz of cranberry juice. Pour both liquids into your cocktail shaker.

Put the top on your cocktail shaker. Shake it well until the outside of the Shaker gets cold to the touch. Remove the top and place the hawthorn drainer on top of the shaker. Then pour your liquid into your highball glass.

    Step Five

To mix your drink straight in your highball glass:

Use your jigger to measure 2 ounces of gin and dump that in the highball glass over your ice.

Then use your jigger to measure 4 oz of cranberry juice and dump that into the highball glass as well.

Next, use a bar spoon to thoroughly mix the two liquids together.

    Step Six

Your drink is ready to enjoy!
