What is a Tequila and Soda?

A tequila and soda essentially tastes like a fizzy, crisp tequila drink. The soda water doesn’t really add a flavor persay, just a crisp fizziness.

Tequila itself comes in a few variations including gold tequila and silver tequila. While both tend to mix in well in drinks without adding a ton of their own flavor, they do have a bit of a sweet bite to them. The difference between gold and silver tequila (besides the color) is that gold tequila is a little smoother. It is usually aged a little which contributes to a slightly smoother taste.

The tequila and soda is perfect for hot days due to it’s refreshing taste. You can whip this one up for summer parties, pool or beach time or even BBQs.

Of course, there are many other tequila and soda combinations like ginger ale, squirt and root beer.

How many calories in a tequila and soda?

There are around 140 -150 calories in a tequila and soda. The soda water has 0 calories while the tequila has about 70 calories per ounce. There are two ounces of tequila in this drink, so multiply the 70 by 2.

Other low calorie cocktails made with soda water include gin and soda, whiskey soda, rum soda and vodka soda.

    Instructions:

    Step one

Grab your highball glass, bar spoon, jigger, tequila and club soda and you’re ready to get started.

    Step two

Fill your highball glass to the very top with ice.

    Step three

Next, you’ll make the garnish for your cocktail which is a lime wedge. To prepare your lime wedge simply cut your lime into a couple of slices. Take one slice and place it on the edge of your glass.

pro-tip: to get the wedge to easily stain your glass, take your knife and cut a small notch between the pulp and the peel and use that to secure it to the rim of your glass.

    Step four

Grab your tequila and use your jigger to measure 2 oz of it. Then pour that 2 oz into your highball glass over your ice.

    Step Five

Grab your club soda and use your jigger to measure 4 oz of it. Then pour that 4 oz into your highball glass with your tequila and ice.

Feel free to add a little additional club soda if you want to top the glass off. The more club soda you add the lighter the tequila flavor will be.

    Step Six

Using your bar spoon place it in your glass and gently but thoroughly mixed together at the club soda and tequila.

Your cocktail is now ready to enjoy!
