You are most likely familiar with a Jager Bomb or Sake Bomb (some of us a little more familiar than others 😲). You may not be familiar with their lesser known cousin, The Vegas Bomb. What happens with The Vegas Bomb stays with The Vegas Bomb.*
*this is not at all true and is definitely not legal advice. Please bomb responsibly.
What is a Vegas Bomb?
A Vegas Bomb is a member of the “bomb” style cocktails. As we mentioned above, it is similar to the Jager Bomb and the Sake Bomb. The main difference is we use Crown Royal, Schnapps, and some fruit juices to make a sorta mini cocktail shot instead of a single liquor.
What Makes A Drink A “Bomb” Cocktail?
Bomb style cocktails are really kind of a cocktail/shot hybrid. Essentially, you take your ingredients, mix them together, and pour them in a shot glass. You then drop that shot glass into a larger pint glass filled with another liquid. For example:
- Jager Bomb: drop a shot of Jager into half a pint of Red Bull
- Sake Bomb: drop a shot of sake into half a pint of beer
- Irish Car Bomb: drop a shot of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey and Bailey’s Irish Cream into ¾ pint of Guinness
- Skittle Bomb
- Cherry Bomb
There are a ton more example but you probably get the idea. The final step, which is essential to almost every bomb cocktail is once you drop the shot in, you must drink the entire drink as quickly as possible. The basic process is pour, drop, chug.
The nature of these drinks can make them dangerous. Because they are not a lot of liquid and made to be consumed quickly means you can drink several of them before the effects of the first one can set in. These drinks are fun party drinks but they are best taken in moderation.
Additionally, be careful not to drop the shot glass from too high up. The last thing you want to do is chug a chipped piece of glass. That’s a real buzz kill.
Now that we have our safety measures covered, let’s get to making this drink!
How to make this drink:
The Vegas Bomb is pretty easy to make. It is best to start chilling your pint glass prior to mixing anything so it is ready to go right away.
Equipment
Ingredients
- ½ oz Crown Royal
- ¼ oz Malibu or coconut rum
- ¼ oz Peach Schnapps
- 1 oz Cranberry juice
- 8 oz Red Bull
Step One
Chill your pint glass in the freezer and fill your mixing tumbler with ice.
Step Two
Pour your Crown Royal, Malibu (or coconut rum), and Peach Schnapps over the ice.
Step Three
Take out your chilled pint glass and fill it about halfway (6 – 8 oz) with Red Bull.
Step Four
Place the lid on the mixer and shake a couple of times. Use a Hawthorne strainer and pour into your shot glass. Top off the shot with about an ounce of cranberry juice.
Step Five
Take your shot glass and drop it into the pint glass of Red Bull. Drink as quickly as possible.
A couple of notes
There are some modifications you can make that are simple but would muddle the above directions.
- If you want a more sugary sweet than fruity sweet drink, swap the Peach Schnapps for Butterscotch Schnapps.
- You can use any energy drink you like instead of Red Bull (we prefer Sugar Free Red Bull).
