If you ever wondered if whiskey is good with Dr Pepper the answer is an absolute yes! A Whiskey and Dr Pepper sometimes known as a pepper jack is a bold flavored great sipping cocktail.
What is a whiskey and dr pepper?
A whiskey and Dr Pepper is exactly what it sounds like. It is a cocktail that is made from mixing two ingredients which are whiskey and Dr pepper.
Though any type of whiskey works well in this cocktail a popular whiskey to use is Jack daniels. When you use Jack Daniels it is called a Pepper Jack.
As mentioned above you can use any type of whiskey. Different whiskeys certainly have different flavors some are rye whiskeys which are a little drier some are bourbon whiskeys which are a little sweeter with caramel undertones. All whiskey does tend to have a bit of a spicy flavor to it.
Dr Pepper is comprised of combination of 23 different and unique flavors. It has a complex flavor that can be difficult to describe. It does have strong tastes of spices and cherries as well as hints of licorice and almond.
When you mix these two together you get a complex and robust flavor profile full of spice and sweet flavors.
Other spicy flavorful liquors to mix with Dr Pepper that have a similar taste to this cocktail are Brandy and Dr Pepper or Rum and Dr Pepper.
How to make this drink:
Simply toss together you’re too ingredients and your cocktail will be ready.
Equipment:
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Whiskey. We prefer Wild Turkey or Jack Daniels
- 4 oz Dr Pepper
- Lime wedge
Instructions:
Step one
As you prepare to mix your drink up, make sure that you have all of your supplies and ingredients.
Step two
First, grab some ice and fill your highball glass to the top with it.
Step three
Next, let’s prepare your lime wedge. To do this take your lime and cut it into slices or wedges.
Then, take one wedge and cut a small amount between the peel and the pulp of the lime. You can use this cut to place your wedge on the rim of your glass.
Step four
Now, measure out 2 oz of whiskey. You can do this by using your jigger.
Dump your two ounces of whiskey over your ice in your highball glass.
Step Five
Now, measure out 4 oz of Dr Pepper. You can also do this by using your jigger.
Pour these 4 oz of Dr Pepper into your highball glass with your whiskey and ice.
You can adjust the amount of Dr Pepper you use dependent on your taste preferences. The more Dr Pepper you use the less you’ll taste your whiskey. The less Dr Pepper you use the more you’ll taste your whiskey.
Step Six
Finally, use your bar spoon. Place it into your highball glass and thoroughly mix together your ingredients.
Take a sip and enjoy!
