Is Dr Pepper good with rum? The answer to this is a definite yes! A Rum and Dr Pepper sometimes known as a Captain Pepper is a delicious, spicy, sweet cocktail.

What is a rum and dr pepper?

Simply put, a rum and Dr Pepper sometimes known as a captain pepper is a mix of Dr Pepper with rum.

There are several types of rum that you can use. There are dark rooms, white rums, coconut rums, and spiced rums.

The flavor of the rum will of course depend on the variety that you’re using. But most have a bit of a fruity and tropical flavor. Spiced rums tend to also have a spicy flavor like a cinnamon or pepper added in.

When using a spiced rum such as Captain Morgan this drink is called a Captain Pepper.

Dr Pepper is made up of 23 different flavors all combined together. This leads the soda to having a complex and sometimes difficult to put your finger on taste. The unique taste does have highlights that stand out such as cherry, vanilla, licorice and other spices.

How to make this drink:

This drink is exceptionally easy to make. All it takes is tossing your ingredients into a highball glass and stirring them together.

Equipment:

• highball glass
• jigger
• bar spoon

Ingredients:

• 2 oz rum (any kind works)
• 4 oz Dr Pepper
• Lime wedge

Instructions:

Step one

Before you get to mixing, make sure that you have everything you need to make your drink including ingredients and equipment.

Step two

First, fill your highball glass full of ice.

Step three

Next, prepare your lime wedge. To do this you want to take your lime and cut it into wedges or slices.

Then, take just one wedge, and cut a small amount between the lime pulp and the peel of the lime. Use this cut to place your lime wedge on the rim of your highball glass.

Step four

Grab your jigger and use it to measure 2 oz of rum. Once you’ve measured 2 oz, you can dump it into your highball glass over your ice.

Step Five

Keep your jigger and use it again to measure 4 oz of Dr Pepper this time. Then, dump that 4 oz of Dr Pepper into your highball glass with the ice and rum.

Step Six

Take your bar spoon, place it into your glass and use it to thoroughly mix your ingredients together.
