What is a Birthday Cake Shot?

A birthday cake shot is a combination of cake vodka, whipped cream vodka and clear creme de cacao. This clear colored shot tastes just like sweet, delicious birthday cake.

Creme de cacao is a chocolate flavored liqueur. We like to use white or clear creme de cacao in this shot, but you could certainly use dark if you prefer.

Both the cake vodka and whipped cream vodka really contribute to the sweet cake flavor in this shot. They are both sweet, creamy and have undertones of vanilla and buttercream.

Cake and whipped cream vodka are used in a lot of dessert types shots like the apple pie shot, banana split shot and the strawberry shortcake shot.

When to Make This Drink:

This shot is perfect to serve for a variety of different celebrations like:

  • Birthday parties
  • Anniversaries
  • Holidays
  • Dessert drinks

Variations:

One of the fun things about this shot is that you can change up the ingredients several different ways while still keeping the same delicious flavor. Give a couple of these ideas a try:

  • Replace the white creme de cacao. Use white chocolate liqueur for a white colored shot or dark creme de cacao for a dark brown colored shot.
  • Add some Irish cream. Make this extra creamy by adding a little dash of Irish cream either in place of the whipped cream vodka or in addition to.
  • Use vanilla vodka. Replace the whipped cream vodka with vanilla vodka and you will still have a very similar flavor.
  • Add all the garnishes.
    • add a frosting and sprinkled rim. You can use chocolate frosting vanilla frosting or whatever flavor you like the best.
    • Add a huge dollop of whipped cream on top.
    • Add sprinkles to the whipped cream.
    • Add a sugar rim. Either plain sugar with a flavored simple syrup or colored sugar works well.
