    Gladiator Shot: a fun bomb shot

    Try out this super fun gladiator shot at your next party or get together. This is a fun and easy bomb shot.

    What is a Gladiator Shot?

    A gladiator shot is a type of bomb shot that is made with amaretto, Southern comfort, lemon lime soda and orange juice. The liquors are mixed in a shot glass which is then dropped into a highball glass that is filled with the soda and orange juice.

    This drink when chugged tastes like a burst of citrus with a bit of fizz from the soda followed by a splash of caramel in a sweet smooth finish.

    Amaretto is a type of liqueur which was originally made in Italy. It is typically made either from almonds or a stone fruit such as peach or apricot pits. It has a slightly bitter and slightly sweet nutty taste.

    Southern comfort, which is sometimes called soco, is a whiskey based liqueur. It is whiskey which is infused with different fruits and spices. It is a sweet and smooth liqueur which usually has hints of peach or other fruits as well as spices such as cinnamon.

    When you are choosing an orange juice to use for this cocktail, you can use either homemade or store-bought. Homemade is the best since it will be the freshest and have the best taste. Additionally, it’s important to use pulp Free orange juice so you don’t mess up the texture of the cocktail.

    When to Make This Drink:

    This drink is a fun party drink which is suitable to be served out of variety of occasions including:

    • college parties
    • tailgating parties
    • sports celebrations
    • informal get togethers

    Variations:

    With only a few basic ingredients, there aren’t many ways to change this drink up. However, if you’re looking for a few possible variations check these out:

    • Change up the lemon lime soda. For the recipe below Sprite is used. However, you could use 7UP or any other lemon lime soda you prefer.
    • Make it a diet. If you would like to change the calories in this drink, use sugar-free or diet lemon lime soda.

    Some similar shots include: The Dr. Pepper Bomb shot or the uppercut shot

    How to make this drink:

    This drink is really easy to make with only four ingredients and no real shaking or anything required. You should be able to be enjoying this one in 5 minutes or less.

    Equipment:

    • highball glass
    • jigger
    • Shot glasses

    Ingredients:

    • .25 oz Amaretto
    • .25 oz Southern Comfort
    • 2 oz Lemon-Lime soda
    • 2 oz Orange Juice

    Instructions:

    Step one

    As you get started make sure you have everything needed to make the drink including orange juice, Southern comfort, amaretto, lemon lime soda, highball glass, shot glass and a jigger.

    Pro tip: due to the fact that this is a bomb shot which will be chugging, no ice is used. If you like your drinks to be cold, make sure you have chilled your ingredients well before starting.

    Step two

    Take your Southern comfort inn jigger. Use a jigger to measure 0.25 oz of Southern comfort and toss that into the shot glass.

    Step three

    Take your amaretto and jigger. Use the jigger to measure .25 oz of amaretto and toss that into the shot glass with the Southern comfort.

    Step Four

    Take your lemon lime soda and your jigger. Use the jigger to measure 2 oz of lemon line soda. Toss that into the highball glass.

    Step five

    Grab your jigger and orange juice. Use the jigger to measure out 2 oz of orange juice. Toss that into the highball glass.

    Step Six

    Take your shot glass of Amaretto and Soco and hold it over the top of the highball glass. Carefully drop the shot glass into the highball glass. Quickly chug the shot.

    Equipment

    • jigger

    Ingredients
      

    • .25 oz Amaretto
    • .25 oz Southern Comfort
    • 2 oz Lemon-Lime Soda
    • 2 oz Orange Juice

    Instructions
     

    • Get together all the things you need in order to make this shot.
    • Grab your Amaretto. Using your jigger, measure out .25 oz and toss it into the shot glass.
    • Grab your Southern Comfort. Using your jigger, measure out .25 oz and toss it into the shot glass.
    • Grab your Lemon-lime soda. Using your jigger, measure out 4 oz and toss it into the highball glass.
    • Grab your Orange Juice. Using your jigger, measure out 4 oz and toss it into the highball glass.
    • Take the shot glass of Amaretto and Soco and hold it over the top of the highball glass.
    • Carefully drop the shot glass into the highball glass.
    • Chug the shot. Enjoy!
