What is a lemon drop shot?

Lemon drop shots are made of just lemon juice, simple syrup, and vodka. These three ingredients make this shot an easy shot to make anytime.

Lemon drop shots are likely named after the similarly flavored candy (just like a skittle bomb and tootsie roll shots are also named after candy). They have a little bit of tart followed by a lot of sweet and are a very smooth and easy to take shot.

If you like the tart flavor of this lemon drop shot you may also like any sour cocktails like the whiskey sour, the rum sour, or the amaretto sour.

    How to make this drink:

No fancy techniques or ingredients needed for this shot. It is made of just three simple ingredients mixed together.

    Equipment:

    • Shot glasses
    • cocktail shaker
    • Hawthorne strainer
    • jigger

    Ingredients:

    • 1 oz vodka
    • ½ oz lemon juice
    • ½ oz simple syrup
    • Sugar
    • Lemon wedge

    Instructions:

    Step one

To get started, you will first want to gather all of your equipment and ingredients.

    Step two

Next you want to rim your glass and prepare your lemon garnish.

First, slice your lemon into wedges.

Then, you want to wet the rim of your shot glass by rubbing a wedge of lemon around it.

Pour a little sugar in a thin layer on a saucer.

Then take your wet rimmed shot glass and place it into the sugar so that the sugar coats the rim.

Finally, take your lemon wedge and place each side into the sugar so that it is also coated.

    Step three

Fill your cocktail shaker almost full of ice.

    Step four

Combine 1 oz of vodka, half ounce of lemon juice, and half ounce of simple syrup measured with your jigger over the ice in your cocktail shaker.

    Step Five

Place the top on your cocktail shaker and shake.

    Step six

Remove the top of your cocktail shaker and pour the liquid into your shot glass.

Drink the shot followed quickly by placing the sugared lemon wedge into your mouth.
