An Ameretto Stone Sour is a blend between a classic Stone Sour cocktail, consisting primarily of whiskey/bourbon and orange juice, and an Amaretto Sour.
What’s the difference between an Amaretto Sour and an Amaretto Stone Sour?
An Amaretto Sour is made with Amaretto and lemon juice & simple syrup (or sours mix). You make an Amaretto Stone Sour by using most of the same ingredients. The main difference is the Stone Sour version uses Orange Juice.
What exactly makes a drink a Sours drink?
There is a whole family of Sours style drinks. Simply put, a Sours cocktail is made up of your alcohol (liquor or liqueur/cordial), a some form of citrus juice, and a sweetener. Typically, the citrus and sweetener components are combined in a sours mix of lemon juice and simple syrup.
If you want to give a couple Sours drinks a try, you have plenty of options. Pick your favorite alcohol and try out one (or all) of these recipes; whiskey, vodka (or cherry vodka), rum, or gin.
How To Make An Amaretto Stone Sour
This drink is very similar to the Amaretto Sour we mentioned above. You can either use a sours mix, in which case you swap it for the total amounts of lemon juice and simple syrup (1¼ oz) or you can make your own in glass or in a pitcher using a 1:.75 ratio of juice to syrup.
