What is a tootsie roll shot?
The Tootsie roll shot is made very simply a Kahlua or another coffee liqueur and orange juice.
Kahlua or coffee liqueur is a flavor combination of coffee and rum with a sweet vanilla mixed in. You wouldn’t think that that combined with orange juice would result in a Tootsie roll flavor. But it certainly does!
I was actually completely shocked the first time I took the shot because the flavor really is so close to that of a Tootsie roll.
With how easy this shot is to make it is great for any occasion. But it is particularly well suited as a simple dessert shot to take after a meal with its Rich chocolatey flavor.

How to make this drink:
This is one of the most simple shots to make that’s all you have to do is combine two ingredients. There’s not even any garnish or rim to do.

- ⅓ oz orange juice
- ⅔ oz kahula
Instructions:
Step one
Before you get started mixing anything together, you will want to gather your equipment and ingredients into one place.
Step two
Fill your cocktail shaker approximately ¾ of the way full.
Step three
Take your jigger and measure out ⅓ of an ounce of orange juice. Pour it into your cocktail shaker over your ice.
Step four
Next, use your jigger to measure ⅔ of an ounce of Kahlua and also add that to your cocktail shaker.
Step Five
Place the top on your cocktail shaker and shake well for several seconds.
Step six
Remove the top of your cocktail shaker and place your hawthorn strainer over the top. Pour your liquid into your shot glass.
Throw the shot back and enjoy the Tootsie roll flavor!

Equipment
- cocktail shaker
- jigger
- Hawthorne strainer
- shot glass
Ingredients
- ⅔ oz Kahlua
- ⅓ oz Orange Juice (pulp free is best for this drink)
- Ice
- (optional) tootsie Roll garnish
Instructions
- Put ice into cocktail shaker. Should be almost filled.
- Measure ⅔ oz of Kahula with jigger and pour into cocktail shaker
- Measure ⅓ oz of Orange Juice with jigger and pour into cocktail shaker
- Cover shaker with top and shake.
- Remove top and replace with Hawthorne Strainer
- Pour drink from shaker into shot glass
- (optional) add one tootsie roll onto rim of glass as garnish
