Rum & Mountain Dew: Spicy Citrus Cocktail

Depending on the type of rum you choose to use they’re all kinds of fun names for this drink like the voodoo or the Maladew. But, at the end of the day the rum and mountain dew is an easy to make spicy and sugary sweet cocktail.

What is a rum and mountain dew?

Sometimes this drink is called rum & dew, Maladew Captain Dew or even a voodoo dew. But, at the end of the day this cocktail is simply rum and mountain dew mixed together. The name may change dependent on what type of from you use.

We chose to use Bacardi to mix with our mountain dew. Bacardi mix seamlessly with the mountain dew resulting in a cocktail that quite frankly just mostly taste like mountain dew with a little hint of rum.

If rum is not your jam, but you still want to use mountain dew as a mixer, we might try out vodka and mountain dew, whiskey mountain dew or, Brandy and mountain dew

How to make this drink:

This two ingredient drink is as simple as pour and drink.

Equipment:

• highball glass
• jigger
• bar spoon

Ingredients:

• 2 oz rum
• 4 oz mountain dew
• Lemon or lime wedge

Instructions:

Step one

Grab your ingredients and equipment. Fill your highball glass full of ice.

Cut a wedge of lemon or lime and put it on the rim of your glass.

Step two

Grab your jigger and measure 2 oz of vodka. For your vodka into your highball glass over the ice.

Step three

To add your mountain dew, you can either measure 4 oz with your jigger and poured into your highball glass. Or, you can simply top the glass off with mountain dew.

The more mountain dew you add the more your drink will taste like well, mountain dew.

Step four

Take your bar spoon and lightly stir the drink so that your rum and mountain dew mix well. Now, enjoy!
