What is a Chocolate Cupcake Cocktail?

A chocolate cake cocktail is a combination of whipped cream vodka, Godiva liqueur, heavy cream and amaretto. Take it over the top, you can add frosting and sprinkles to the rim.

The flavor of a chocolate cupcake cocktail is very similar to that of chocolate cupcake batter. It is sweet, chocolatey and creamy.

The creaminess of this cocktail comes in large part from the heavy cream. This ingredient adds a sweetness and creaminess as well as helping to smooth out some of the bite from the liquor.

Whipped cream vodka is a flavor infused vodka that has hints of vanilla and cream. It is a clear liquor that still has a strong bite of vodka as it goes down.

The chocolate flavor of this drink comes from the Godiva liqueur. This liquor has a rich and velvety chocolate flavor and clocks in at around 15% alcohol by volume.

Finally, the amaretto adds a sweet and slightly nutty flavor to the drink which when mixed with the chocolate and vanilla flavors from the other ingredients smooths out nicely.

Occasions to mix it up

With its sweet flavor and ease of making, this cocktail Is perfect for many occasions such as:

  • birthday celebrations
  • after dinner drinks
  • dessert
  • formal parties

Possible variations

Here are a few ways to make this drink a little differently:

  • Add cake vodka. Cake vodka has a similar vanilla and cream flavor as whipped cream vodka but with a buttercream undertone added in. It is used in other cake flavored drinks such as the birthday cake martini.
  • Increase the chocolate. You can never have enough chocolate, so you can add some chocolate syrup into the inside of the glass to up that chocolate flavor.
  • Make it more festive. Add some whipped cream on top of the drink or substitute out vanilla frosting for chocolate frosting. You can even use chocolate sprinkles.
