Do you remember lemon drop candies from when you were a kid? The perfect combination of mostly tangy with a little bit of sweet. If you love that lip puckering sweet, then you’ll also love the lemon drop Martini.

    lemon drop martini

I love a good martini. You can have so many different flavors combinations from dessert drinks like a chocolate martini to refreshing ones like this cocktail, the lemon drop martini.

What is a Lemon Drop Martini?

Lemon drop martinis are refreshing. They are sort of like a vodka infused glass of lemonade. They are tangy and tart, but have just the right amount of sweet added in. Vodka is a pretty lightly flavored liquor, so you really get the strong tart citrus flavor or the lemon juice and the sweet of the simple syrup.

This cocktail is perfect for any occasion. They’re so light and refreshing that you can sip them anytime. Hot summer months are especially good times to enjoy this cold beverage. Sitting outside, or poolside; anytime you’d normally think about lemonade, really.

They’re also pretty enough with their bright yellow color and neat sugared rim that they’re perfect for celebrations, gatherings and parties.

Want to add a little fruit flavor? Try the blueberry lemon drop martini, raspberry lemon drop martini or strawberry lemon drop martini.

    Ingredients and Instructions

Not only are they delicious they’re also easy to make. You can learn how to make this cocktail in just a few easy steps.

It just takes 4 simple ingredients:

    Vodka

    Simple syrup

    Triple sec

    Lemon Juice

And icing on the cake, or in this case the sugar on the rim is the perfect topping to make this cocktail come together with the perfect sweetness.

Protips: make sure to use a high-quality vodka for this cocktail. It is not like some of the more elaborate vodka cocktails like a chocolate peppermint martini where there are heavy thick flavors involved.

Vodka is one of the stars for this drink, so don’t skimp on a poor quality one. You want to make sure your vodka tastes good and it’s high-quality.

Pro-tip 2: You can also use fresh lemon juice if you so desire. And you can make your own simple syrup if you don’t have any purchased.

If you’re looking for variations on this cocktail, try a blueberry lemon drop martini or a strawberry lemon drop martini.

Now that you have your ingredients, get started mixing your drink.

    Step One

Place your martini glass in the freezer to chill while you are whipping up your cocktail.

    Step Two

Fill your shaker with ice. We use the shaker in this bartending set.

    Step Three

Pour vodka, triple sec, simple syrup, and lemon juice into your shaker.

    Step Four

Shake all ingredients together. Continue shaking until the outside of your shaker is very cold to touch.

    Step 5

Sprinkle sugar on two small saucers. Remove martini glass from freezer wipe rim with a wedge of lemon and then place glass rim first into the sugar and spin until sugar is coating the rim.

    Step Six

Remove the lid from your shaker and replace it with a Hawthorne strainer. Pour cocktail mixture from shaker into glass and garnish rim with a wedge or twist of lemon.
