Picture looking for a fun colored drink that is heavy on the liquor the black opal is one to try! This drink has almost every liquor you can imagine all mixed together.
What is the black opal drink?
If you want to throw everything but the kitchen thinking to your drink then this is the perfect drink for you. The black opal is made of sprite, Chambord, gin, rum, tequila, vodka, sweet and sour mix and and blue Curacao.
The fun part about this drink is watching it change from Blue to a dark black purple color when you add the last ingredient.
Even though it has a ton of ingredients it’s super easy to make and does have a fun color so it works well for most any occasion.
This drink, like the black martini and Fruit Tingle, are chambord based drinks that have the distinct flavor of black raspberry added in.
How to make this drink:
As long as you got all the right ingredients this drink is super easy to make.
Equipment:
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Chambord
- 1 oz of sweet and sour mix
- Sprite to top off
- ½ oz vodka
- ½ oz gin
- ½ oz tequila
- ½ oz rum
- ½ oz blue Curacao
Instructions:
Step one
First, you want to make sure that you gather together all of your equipment and ingredients before you get started.
Also, ensure that both your cocktail shaker and your highball glass are filled with ice.
Step two
Next, using your jigger, measure a half ounce of vodka and pour it over the ice into your cocktail shaker.
Follow the same procedure to measure half ounce of gin, half ounce of rum, half ounce of tequila, half ounce of Blue Curacao pouring each of them into the cocktail shaker as well.
Step three
Next, using your jigger again, measure 1 oz of sweet and sour mix and add that to your cocktail shaker.
Step four
Place the top on your cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for several seconds so that all of your liquid and ice gets mixed together well.
Step Five
Remove the top from your cocktail shaker and place your Hawthorne strainer on the top of it.
Pour your liquid from the cocktail shaker into your highball glass.
Step six
Next, pour Sprite into your highball glass filling almost to the top. To leave an answer to a room left because we still have one ingredient left.
Step seven
Now, using your jigger, measure 2 oz of Chambord. You can use any type of black raspberry liqueur you wish. We prefer chambord.
Pour your 2 oz of Chambord into your highball glass and you will see your blue drink turn to a purpley black color.
Finally, using a bar spoon, you can make sure drink together and enjoy!

Equipment
- highball glass
- jigger
- Hawthorne strainer
- cocktail shaker
Ingredients
- 2 oz Chambord
- 1 oz Sweet and Sour mix
- ½ oz Vodka
- ½ oz gin
- ½ oz tequila
- ½ oz rum
- ½ oz Blue Curacao
- splash of Sprite
Instructions
- Fill Cocktail Shaker and Highball Glass with ice
- Use jigger to measure 1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix and add to shaker.
- Use jigger to measure ½ oz vodka and add to shaker.
- Use jigger to measure ½ oz gin and add to shaker.
- Use jigger to measure ½ oz tequila and add to shaker.
- Use jigger to measure ½ oz rum and add to shaker.
- Use jigger to measure ½ oz blue curacao and add to shaker.
- After placing top on shaker, shake well.
- Remove top from shaker and place Hawthorne strainer on top of shaker.
- Dump liquid from shaker into Highball Glass
- Add a splash of sprite to highball glass to top it off
- Finally, measure 2 oz of Chambord with jigger. And slowly pour into glass. This will turn the drink purple.
