    The Ultimate Peppermint Martini

    Jump to Recipe

If you’re looking for a bright and sweet centerpiece drink for your holidays, try out this peppermint martini. With only three ingredients this one is so easy to make and tastes super delicious.

Peppermint martini in a glass on a wooden table.

    What is a Peppermint Martini?

A peppermint martini is a bright green festive drink that is a combination of vanilla vodka, peppermint schnapps and green green creme de menthe. This cocktail is the quintessential dessert martini with a very strong sweet peppermint candy flavor and a tiny bite of vodka as it goes down.

This peppermint infused dessert cocktail is similar to the peppermint Patty hot chocolate, peppermint schnapps hot chocolate and the chocolate peppermint martini.

The bright green color and strong peppermint flavor and this drink comes from the green creme de menthe (much like a grasshopper drink and other green cocktails.

Peppermint schnapps, not surprisingly, is a sweet peppermint flavored liqueur. It is clear so that the green creme de menthe can have it’s bright green color shine through.

Vanilla vodka is a clear liquor. Again, allowing the green creme demand to have its color dominate the strength. The sweet vanilla flavor in the vodka adds a nice sweetness to this cocktail.

    When to Make This Drink:

This drink is both sweet and festive making it perfect to serve for:

    • winter holidays
    • St Patrick’s Day
    • chilly nights
    • signature cocktail

    Variations:

Due to the fact of this drink is not an IBA standard, there are many ways to make this drink and still have a very similar flavor. Try a couple of these ideas out:

    • Leave out the creme de menthe. Creme de menthe can be a little difficult to find. Or, perhaps you don’t want the bright green color. Either way you can leave the creme de menthe out of this drink and substitute in a heavy cream to still have a creamy sweet peppermint cocktail.
    • Use white creme de menthe. If you don’t want a green color in this drink, you can use a clear or white creme de menthe. The green is a little easier to find though.
    • Jazz it up with a garnish. Crush up some candy canes and rim your glass with them to make this drink even prettier and sweeter.
    • Use peppermint simple syrup. Remove the creme dement or peppermint schnapps and substitute in peppermint simple syrup.
    • Use rumplemintz. Instead of a plain peppermint schnapps, use rumple mints which is also a type of peppermint schnapps.
    • Use plain vodka. You can skip the vanilla vodka and use plain vodka, but the drink will be a little less sweet and have a little more of an alcohol bite. If you do this, we highly suggest using a more mid-tier or top shelf vodka.
