    The Ultimate Bong Water Drink

    Jump to Recipe

Don’t mistake any mistake, this long water drink is an alcohol infused cocktail that is easy to make and easy to drink. Though the name bong water may not be totally appealing, once you try this drink out you’re sure to love it.

What is a Bong Water Drink?

This bong water drink is a combination of Chambord, blue curaçao, amaretto, spiced rum and sour mix. Though actual bong water looks and tastes disgusting, this alcohol drink is super tasty. It is called a bong water drink due to its murky looking color.

Blue curaçao is a bright blue liqueur. It is made from a base spirit that is infused with bitter orange peel. The resulting liqueur is very sweet with a little bitter bite and orange flavored.

Rum is made by distilling sugarcane. Spiced rum take that base rum and add a variety of different spices to it. It is slightly sweet with notes of cinnamon, allspice and cloves to name a few.

Sour mix can be homemade or purchased pre-made in the store. It is a combination of a citrus juice, typically lemon and a sweetener, typically sugar or simple syrup. Store-bought sour mix tends to have a bright yellow coloring added in.

Amaretto is a dark colored liqueur. It is sweet and slightly bitter and flavor. It is typically made from either almonds or the pits of stone fruit such as peaches or apricots. It has a slight nutty like almond flavor with undertones of fruits like cherries.

Chambord originated in France. It is a deep red almost purplish looking liqueur. It’s a very sweet tasting liqueur with a black raspberry flavor. There are a few different spirits used to make it including cognac.

    Occasions to make this drink

If you’re wondering when the best times to serve this drink are, try some of these occasions out:

    • Halloween
    • 4/20
    • casual get togethers
    • tailgating
    • college parties

    Drink variations

This drink is not a standardized drink, therefore, you’ll find a few different recipes for this cocktail. Here are a few ways you can change this one up:

    • Make your own sour mix. Using store-bought sour mix is just fine. However, making your own sour mix will lend a fresher more tangy citrus flavor.
    • Make it sparkling. Add a splash of lemon lime soda to give this cocktail a little fizz.
    • Substitute the amaretto. Amaretto is one of the better more well established brands of almond liqueur. However, there are other variations of almond liqueur. You can switch the amaretto out for a different brand.
    • Substitute Chambord. Wash and board is one of the best known and highest quality raspberry liqueurs, there are others you can use. Do be aware that using a different raspberry liqueur may change the color of your cocktail slightly.

Some similar tasting drinks are the black betty cocktail, LA water drink and black opal cocktail.
