🥃 What is a Carrot Cake Shot Recipe?

A carrot cake shot is a delightful dessert drink that consists of equal parts of Kahlua, Goldschlager, butterscotch schnapps and Bailey’s Irish cream topped off with a rim of cream cheese frosting. When these ingredients are mixed together they create a flavor profile that tastes just like the spicy sweetness of carrot cake.

This is one of those interesting shots where you can take a variety of different liquors and liqueurs that you may not expect would have a certain flavor when mixed together and create something delicious. Each of the four ingredients provides just the right amount of flavor to create that sweet, spicy carrot flavor of carrot cake.

The creamy sweetness comes from the Bailey’s Irish cream. The warm spiciness comes from the Goldschlager which is a cinnamon schnapps. And somehow the butterscotch schnapps and Kahlua (which is actually a coffee flavored liqueur) add in just the right flavors to give it the taste of carrot cake.

As if the taste alone was not enough reason to whip this recipe right up, here are a few reasons you should try it:

    • Drink your dessert. I don’t know about you, but carrot cake is my favorite dessert. So, what’s better than eating it? Savoring the flavors in liquid form.
    • Easy to make. This one is not difficult to make it all. You need four relatively simple ingredients. All you have to do is slap a little cream cheese on the room of your glass and shake your ingredients together.
    • It looks fancy. This shot, with the decorated rim looks fancy and impressive. It makes a great drink to serve as a centerpiece on the dessert table.

    📖 Variations

Although, you don’t have to change anything to make this shop delicious, you may be looking for possible flavor variations or ingredients substitutions. If so, consider a few of these ideas:

    • Ramp up the rim. If you like walnuts in your carrot cake, then you can crush some up and add them to the cream cheese frosting rim to really take this decadence over the edge.
    • Skip the Kahlua. You can still get a very similar carrot cake flavor without the coffee liqueur added in. Simply do .75 oz of the other three ingredients.
    • Layer it. Want an even more unique looking shot? Create a layered shot by putting the cinnamon whiskey in the bottom, the butterscotch schnapps in the middle and the Irish cream on top.
