If you are a fan of Amaretto (and who isn’t?) then this is the perfect, quick cocktail for you. An Amaretto and Sprite captures the delicious combination of Amaretto and the citrus tart and sweet bite of lemon lime.
What is an Amaretto and Sprite?
We like to call it the budget Amaretto Sour. Seriously though, that isn’t too far off of a description. The taste is similar enough that it will satisfy if you are just wanting to make a quick cocktail without pulling out a bunch of ingredient.
The Sprite does bring a different flavor profile than lemon juice and simple syrup can, however. Plus, you get the added bonus of carbonation which automatically can make any cocktail more refreshing.
This cocktail is one of our favorites because it is so easy to throw together and tastes so good.
Other Amaretto Mixers
Sprite isn’t the only mixer that goes well with Amaretto. Being a liqueur (aka a cordial), it does not have a high alcohol content so it blends well with many things like Coke (Amaretto and Coke), Mountain Dew (Jolly Dew) and even Orange juice (Amaretto Stone Sour).
What alcohols go well with Amaretto?
Amaretto lends itself to mix well with a lot of different alcoholic drinks. A couple of our favorite alcohols to mix with Amaretto are vodka and bourbon.
With the recipe below, you can cut out an oz of Amaretto and add in 1½ oz of vodka. We like to use a flavored vodka but you can also add ½ to 1 oz of a schnapps or juice to liven up the drink a little.
Our favorite alcohol to mix with Amaretto is bourbon. Bourbon it is an amazing companion to Amaretto. The sweeter caramel tones and oaky goodness of a quality (especially cask-proof bourbon) smooths out the edges of the bitter almond in Amaretto. They both combine for a truly satisfying drink. You can drink them both together or add some bourbon into pretty much any Amaretto cocktail (about a 1:0.25 Amaretto to bourbon ratio is needed).
