🍹 What is a Banana Margarita?

A banana margarita is a combination of tequila, lime juice, triple sec, simple syrup and banana liqueur. This cocktail has a light and sweet banana flavor that quickly transitions and combines with the familiar citrus tang of a margarita.

This cocktail can be served on the rocks (over ice) or with a sugar or salt rim. Whichever way you decide, it’s sure to be delicious.

This drink is a fruity flavor twist on the classic margarita. There are a lot of other flavor variations you can try as well including the watermelon margarita, the blueberry margarita and the passion fruit margarita.

If you are looking for a wild frozen margarita experience, try out this CoronaRita. Or if you like the creamy banana flavors, try this banana split shot which also uses banana liqueur.

If you aren’t quite ready yet to make this tropical cocktail, consider these reasons why you should choose this for your next cocktail experience:

    • Tropical twist. Everyone loves a classic margarita. But, this takes that classic up an extra notch with the addition of the banana liqueur to add in a fruity, tropical element. You’ll quickly be whisked away to the beach.
    • Light, but sweet. This cocktail is the perfect combination and balance of sweetness and tangy commas zesty citrus. It is sweet without being heavy.
    • Easy and customizable. Not only is this drink super easy to make. You only need five ingredients and can have it shaken up in about 5 minutes. But, it’s also easy to customize to make it exactly what you want.

⭐ When to Make This Drink

This tasty tropical delight is perfect for a wide variety of different occasions from formal to casual. Here are a few instances where you might choose to serve it up:

    • Beach days
    • Birthday parties
    • Barbecues and picnics
    • Pool parties

    📖 Variations

One of the fun things about this drink is that it is easily customizable. Try out a few of these substitutions for ingredients and flavor variations if you’re looking to change things up a little.

    • Make it frozen. Add half a cup of banana slices and a little ice. Then, add all your ingredients to the blender and blend it up. Making this a frozen drink is perfect for hot weather.
    • Substitute the simple syrup. Instead of using plain simple syrup, whip up a batch of banana simple syrup. This really helps to capitalize on the banana flavor of this drink.
    • Give it a rim. Use a little lime wedge and run it around the rim of your glass. Then, choose either sugar or salt to add to the rim.
    • Make it large batch. Multiply everything by five times and serve this in a picture if you are serving for a large crowd.
    • Make it a mocktail. Leave out the tequila and instead add in an equal amount of club soda. This makes a nice fizzy non-alcoholic version of the drink
