What is the Dirty Monkey Drink?
The dirty monkey essentially tastes like a creamy banana milkshake with an additional rum bite at the back end. It is super creamy due to the mixing of the ice with the banana liqueur, kahlua, banana and creme of coconut.
This cocktail does take a little preparation (like the frozen mudslide cocktail or the frozen brandy alexander) and a good ice crushing blender, so it’s not as simple as a dump and stir. You’re essentially making a milkshake type drink complete with a huge squirt of whipped cream to top this one off. However, it still goes together pretty fast and is great for sipping in the heat of the summer.
Whip up a dirty monkey cocktail for tropical vacations, beach visits, pool parties or even a summer BBQ. It’s a great summer cocktail. It is so creamy, thick and decadent that is a perfect dessert drink as well.

How to make this drink:
This drink is a little more complicated as it involves a blender and a handful of ingredients. However, The taste makes it worth the time.
Equipment:
- Hurricane glasses
- jigger
- bar spoon
- Blender
Ingredients:
- 1 Banana
- 2 oz dark rum
- 2 oz Pineapple Juice
- ½ oz Kahula
- ½ oz banana liqueur
- ½ oz creme de coco
- 12 oz or so of ice
- Whipped Cream
- Maraschino Cherry
Instructions:
Step one
This one has several ingredients. Make sure you got everything gathered together ingredients and equipment.
Step two
Grab your jigger and measure 2 oz of dark rum and then pour that into your blender.
Step three
Use your jigger again and measure 2 oz of pineapple juice and add that to your blender as well.
Step four
Use your jigger and measure half ounce of banana liqueur and dump that in your blender.
Step Five
Use your jigger to measure half ounce of Kahlua and add that as well to the blender.
Step Six
Use your jigger one more time and measure half ounce of creme de coco. For that in the blender also.
Step Seven
Peel your banana and slice it into four or five large chunks. Place those in your blender.
Step Eight
Finally, add around 2 cups or 12 oz of ice to your blender.
Step Nine
Pop the top on your blender and crank it up. We use the smoothie setting on ours for about 1 to 2 minutes. If you don’t have a smoothie setting you can probably just use the pulse setting off and on for a few minutes.
Step Ten
Now, go ahead and pour the liquid from your blender and to your hurricane glass.
Top your drink off with a good keeping topping of whipped cream with a maraschino cherry right on top.

- 1 Banana
- 2 oz Dark Rum

- ½ oz Cream of Coconut
- 12 oz ice
- Whipped cream
- Maraschino Cherry
Instructions
- Grab your ingredients and blender.
- Use your jigger to measure 2 oz of dark rum and add to your blender
- Use your jigger to measure 2 oz of pineapple juice and add to your blender
- Use your jigger to measure ½ oz of kahula and add to your blender
- Use your jigger to measure ½ oz of banana liqueur and add to your blender
- Use your jigger to measure ½ oz of cream of coconut and add to your blender
- Cut your banana into 4 or 5 chunks and add to your blender.
- Toss in about 2 cups or 12 oz of ice into the blender.
- You can use smoothie setting or pulse setting on your blender to blend your drink for a few minutes until everything is combined and smooth.
- Pour from blender into Hurricane glass.
- Add a large dollop of whipped cream to the top
- Pop a Maraschino cherry on top
- Use a spoon or straw and enjoy!
