Vodka and 7UP as an extremely versatile, but easy to make drink. Depending on the type of vodka you use you can make this drink taste like almost anything you want. This drink is also a super refreshing and it’s the perfect sipper for the end of a long day or for any large get-togethers.
What is a Vodka & 7up?
A vodka and 7up is a super easy to make fizzy lemon-lime flavored cocktail. You can make it with regular, plain vodka or you can mix it up and use a flavored vodka for a little extra wow factor.
Two ingredient vodka drinks are quite popular, like this vodka and orange soda.
Since this cocktail only takes two ingredients to make, it’s perfect for sipping at the end of a long day. Or even as a drink at large parties as it’s not too time consuming or expensive to throw together.
This cocktail has a similar taste to that of tequila and 7up and gin and 7up or an Ice Pick Drink (which has an added tea flavor).
What Does 7up Taste Like?
7up is a lemon-lime flavored soda. It’s pretty similar to the taste of Sprite. However, the lime is a stronger flavor in 7up versus lemon being a stronger flavor in Sprite.
7up does have a sweet flavor, but it’s not overwhelming. And, of course, it’s fizzy (or carbonated) since it’s a soda. So, this drink tastes very similar to a vodka sprite.
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 oz Vodka (any flavor)
- 4 oz 7up
- Ice
Variations
Since vodka comes in many variations or different flavors, you can certainly try some of those out instead of plain vodka. A few popular ones that would go well with the lime-lemon fizz of the 7up are:
- Cherry Vodka
- Citron Vodka
- Lime Vodka
- Cake Vodka
- Mandrin Vodka
- Cucumber Lime Vodka
- Orange Vodka
- Or you can add some orange juice and make a Screw up drink.
Instructions
This drink is super simple to whip up. The most difficult part may be deciding what flavor of vodka to use.
Step one
Gather up your jigger, bar spoon, highball glass, vodka and 7up.
Step two
Go ahead and fill your highball glass with ice.
Step three
Next, measure 2 oz of vodka with your jigger. Then, pour that vodka over the ice in your highball glass.
Step four
Now, measure 4 oz of 7 up with your jigger. Then, for that 7-Up over the ice and vodka in your highball glass.
Step Five
Lastly, use your bar spoon. Place it into your glass and then give everything a good stir so that it is thoroughly combined.
Your drink is ready to sip!
Mixing Tips
- Tone down the vodka. If you’re looking for a less strong vodka flavored cocktail, you can go ahead and just top your glass off with 7up instead of measuring exactly 4 oz.
- Add a garnish. Pop a lemon or lime wedge or wheel on the rim of the glass for a little color. You can also add a squeeze into your glass for some fresh citrus zing.
- Stir gently. There is a lot of soda in this cocktail, so mix it gently so that it doesn’t get too fizzy.
- Don’t make in advance. Make this just in time to serve it so that it is full of bubbles and doesn’t go flat.
