Cognac and Coke is a world class drink that can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone.
What Is A Cognac And Coke?
That really depends on what kind of cognac you decide to use. Some of the more popular brands are Courvoisier, Hennessey, and Remy Martin. The average person may not be able to tell a huge difference between these or any other cognac. However, to a connoisseur where the cognac came from makes a huge difference.
But for today we will just focus on cognac, in general. Cognac is considered a brandy which basically means it is made with fermented fruit as opposed to some form of grain, corn, or some other base. Generally speaking, cognac will have a warm flavor profile with hints of spices, fruit, berries, and any other small touches the original distiller wanted to add in.
Because it is such a warm and flavorful drink, it blends extremely well with Coke. There are some that may claim adding any mixer to a good cognac is blasphemy and ruins it. However, we beg to differ. Cognac and Coke is refreshing and delicious!
Making mixed drinks with coke is a common thing to do, including this Tequila and Coke, Jager and Coke, Rum and Coke and Gin Coke.
While we’re on the subject, cognac blends well with other mixers too. A couple of our favorites are the Cognac Highball (w/ Ginger Ale) and the KC Tea (w/ Sprite).
Is Diet Okay?
Once you get over the purist hurdle of adding Coke into cognac, you have a whole new hurdle of people that claim you should only use “real” Coke and not Diet. We are here to let you know, use whichever version of Coke you like. We actually prefer Coke Zero as our mixer for most drinks.
At the end of the day, you use whatever you want to make your drink.
