This peanut butter and jelly shot, sometimes called simply a PB&J shot, is a super easy to ingredient cocktail. This one will give you a throwback to your favorite childhood sandwich.
What is a Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot?
A peanut butter and jelly shot is a combination of peanut butter whiskey and Chambord. Not surprisingly it tastes much like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a little bit of a whiskey bite. The sweet jelly flavor lingers as it goes down.
Peanut butter whiskey is a sweet, nutty and salty flavored whiskey. It is an extremely smooth liqueur. It contributes the nutty and salty flavor to this drink.
Chambord is a dark purplish liqueur which tastes like black raspberries. It contributes the sweet jelly-like flavor to this drink.
When to Make This Drink:
With how easy it is to make and it’s sweet nostalgic flavor, this shot is suitable for occasions such as:
- Afternoon brunch
- After dinner drinks
- Barbecues
- Informal get togethers
Variations:
Despite the fact that you only need two ingredients for the shot, there are actually several ways you can change out the ingredients, but keep the same great flavor. Try a few of these ideas out:
- Use frangelico. If you’d like a slightly lower alcohol content shot, try out frangelico in place of the peanut butter whiskey. You’ll still get that nutty flavor.
- Use amaretto. You can also substitute amaretto for peanut butter whiskey. It won’t have quite the same strong peanut flavor, but it does still have a nutty taste.
- Make it a full cocktail. Double the amounts of each ingredient and serve in a rocks glass to sip on instead of knocking it back as a shot.
- Shake it. Instead of creating a layered shot, pop your ingredients together in the cocktail shaker and shake them up.
- Change out the jelly flavor. Replace the chamboard for grape schnapps strawberry flavored liqueur if you want to have a different flavored jelly.
Some other peanut butter flavored cocktails are: peanut butter cup shots, peanut butter cup martini and the peanut butter white russian.
How to make this drink:
With only two ingredients this shot is super easy to make. The most difficult part is slowly pouring the whiskey so that it layers in the drink. However, you can still get this one whipped up in 5 minutes or less.
